This case is also somewhat special . We talk about a small young dog who was brought at the clinic after he had been run over by a car in the parking lot in front of the Ford plant where he lived.
The x-ray exam established he had a pelvic fracture so we were optimistic of his chances of recovery after a few weeks .
But it turned out that the very gentle, very meek and almost completely silent dog has a special problem that prevents him from returning to his place .
He has epilepsy and most likely this is why he had been hit by a car in a place where nobody goes at high speed . It is only seconds before a seizure that he starts crying. The two or three seizures we witnessed so far were relatively brief ( 20-30 seconds ) and not very intense. We transfered him to our improvised shelter and he receives the daily medication needed in such conditions ( phenobarbital) .
We try to find him a proper home as the medication seems to work preventing him from new seizures . And he is a very sweeet dog , very suitable to live inside as he is very very quiet and not very active ( now he is still hampered by the pelvic fracture of course).
His medication is not difficult to administer ( once a day with food ) .
The only caution needed in his case would be to avoid the presence of other dogs that might attack him in case of a seizure.
